Symbol Seasonal Chart

Is this year tracking like the last ones? One line per year, from 1 January to 31 December.

This widget draws one line per calendar year for a single symbol: the horizontal axis runs January to December, the vertical axis shows the % change from the close of the previous year. The current year is drawn bold in the color you pick; up to 4 previous years are drawn in lighter colors so you can spot seasonal patterns at a glance.

Pick any symbol in EXCHANGE:TICKER format, how many previous years to compare (1 to 4), the current-year line color, and whether to show the legend and grid. Hover the chart to read every year's value on the same calendar day.

  1. Configure the widget on the right and click "Apply preview".

Frequently asked questions

How is the % change calculated?

Each year starts at 0% from the last daily close of the previous year, then follows the daily closes. If FMchart has no data for the previous year, the year starts from its first available close and is marked with * in the legend.

Why can I compare at most 4 previous years?

More than five lines on one small chart becomes hard to read. Four previous years plus the current one keeps every line distinguishable.

Which symbols does this work for?

Any symbol FMchart has daily price history for — FMchart's own composite symbols (FMCHART:*-USD) have the deepest history.
