ETF Market Performance

Loading chart…

Performance (%) = (current price ÷ base price − 1) × 100. Base = the ETF's close on the last US session at or before the start of the range (1D: previous close). Last point = latest price (official close once the session has ended). All six ETFs trade on US exchanges, so the lines share timestamps — nothing is interpolated. Times in UTC.

What does the ETF Market page show?

It summarises US-listed exchange-traded funds tracked by FMchart: how many rose or fell on the day, total value traded, the average 1-day change, a performance chart of six major ETFs (S&P 500, Nasdaq-100, Russell 2000, emerging markets, long-term Treasuries and gold), a heatmap of the most-traded ETFs, the 11 sector ETFs and the day's top gainers, losers and most active funds.

Why is there no total ETF market cap?

An ETF's size is measured by its assets under management (AUM), and FMchart does not have reliable AUM data for these funds. Instead of estimating it, the page shows market breadth — how many ETFs are up or down versus the previous close.

How is the ETF heatmap built?

It shows the 50 tracked ETFs with the highest value traded in the latest US session. Each tile's area is proportional to that value traded (shares × price, in US dollars) and its colour and label show the percent change for the selected timeframe: 1 day, 1 week, 1 month, 3 months or 1 year.

Are sector ETFs the same as sector indices?

No. The Select Sector SPDR ETFs (XLK, XLF, XLV and others) are funds that track the sectors of the S&P 500. Their prices are in US dollars and can differ from the official sector indices because of fees and tracking difference.

How current are the prices?

Prices come from 5-minute candles that FMchart updates during the US session, so they are delayed and not real-time. After the close, the official closing price is used once it is available. The page refreshes every 60 seconds.
