Liquidation Heatmap Estimated from open interest, prices and an estimated leverage mix — not liquidations that have happened.
Concentration of estimated liquidation exposure across price levels and time — brighter means more potential liquidations.

Key Liquidation Zones
Price ranges (about 1% wide) with the largest estimated liquidation exposure at the latest time on the heatmap. Short zones sit above the current price, long zones below. % of Total = share of all estimated exposure in the displayed price range. Distance = from the current price to the middle of the zone.

Methodology
Estimated amounts are shown as a range, not one number. FMchart regularly compares the model with the liquidations exchanges actually reported after large price moves; the range is where the recorded amount fell in about half of those checks (the middle 50%). Large estimated zones have tended to be higher than what was recorded and small ones lower, so the width of the range depends on the size of the estimate. Bars, colours, axes and sorting use the model value and show relative size only. Totals (such as all levels on one side) use the same calibration as single zones, and the parts of a zone or total use the factor of the amount they belong to so that they add up to it; the about-half figure was measured on single zones. Latest check: 14 Oct 2026 – 26 Oct 2026, 237 events (under $5M: 181; $5M–$50M: 48; $50M and above: 8).
Every 5 minutes FMchart measures how open interest changed on each exchange. Open interest counts one side of each contract (every long has a matching short), so when open interest rises both the long side and the short side grow by that amount (plus whatever that side just lost to liquidations). New positions are placed at that price and spread across an estimated leverage mix: most of it is the distance to liquidation measured on publicly visible Hyperliquid positions (long and short separately), and a coin-specific high-leverage share, calibrated against recorded liquidations, closes gradually over time and is reopened at the current price; each high-leverage position gets a liquidation price of entry × (1 − 1/leverage + maintenance margin) for longs and entry × (1 + 1/leverage − maintenance margin) for shorts. Within one hour, open interest cannot change by more than the volume traded in that hour; where an exchange reports larger swings (Gate), the change used to place new positions is scaled down to that hour's volume. Levels the price later crosses are removed. Each heatmap column shows the levels still open at that time, counting positions opened from a fixed point about 37 days before now for the 24H to 30D ranges (the same for each of them, so the latest column matches; earlier columns include less history). The 90D, 180D and 1Y ranges start counting 7 days before the range begins, step hourly, and include only exchanges with data for the whole range. This is an estimate, not financial advice.

Frequently Asked Questions
1Does the liquidation heatmap show real liquidations?
No. It is an estimate built from open interest changes and an assumed leverage mix. Recorded liquidations are on the Liquidation Tracker page.
2How are the liquidation levels estimated?
Every 5 minutes FMchart measures how open interest changed on each exchange. New positions are placed at that price and spread across an assumed leverage mix; each gets a liquidation price of entry × (1 − 1/leverage + maintenance margin) for longs and entry × (1 + 1/leverage − maintenance margin) for shorts. Levels the price later crosses are removed.
3Why is the open interest change limited by volume?
Within one hour, open interest cannot change by more than the volume traded in that hour. Where an exchange reports larger swings (Gate), the change used to place new positions is scaled down to that hour's volume.
4What does each heatmap column show?
The levels still open at that time. For 24H to 30D, positions are counted from a fixed point about 37 days before now, so the latest column matches across these ranges. For 90D, 180D and 1Y, counting starts 7 days before the range begins and uses hourly steps, and only exchanges with data for the whole range are included.
5Which exchanges are included?
Perpetual futures open interest and mark prices from Binance, Bybit, Bitget, Gate, Hyperliquid, Lighter, Kraken and dYdX, plus other exchanges FMchart collects in the All Exchanges totals. Data updates every 5 minutes.
