Volume Bubbles Chart (1h)
Each 1-hour candle's volume is signed by its direction (up candles count as net buying, down candles as net selling) and drawn as a bubble at the closing price, green for buying and red for selling. Bubble size and colour intensity show how strong that flow is compared with the last 300 candles: the strongest 30% get full bubbles with their USD value, the rest stay as small dots. Unusually large bubbles flag aggressive buying or selling worth a closer look, often near breakouts, reversals or key levels.Seasonal Chart
Plots one line per calendar year showing the % change since the start of that year, with the current year highlighted against up to four previous years. Lining the years up on the same calendar shows whether the price tends to rise or fall in the same months, helping you spot recurring seasonal patterns. Treat it as context rather than a forecast: past seasonality does not guarantee future moves.Algorand Markets

About Algorand (ALGO)
Algorand (ALGO) is a layer 1 blockchain designed by Silvio Micali, an MIT professor and Turing Award-winning cryptographer. The network went live in 2019 and uses a consensus method called pure proof-of-stake. ALGO pays transaction fees and can be put online to help secure the chain. The Algorand Foundation supports the network and its ecosystem. Every ALGO price on this page comes from FMchart's composite, which follows several exchanges and reports in US dollars.
Pure proof-of-stake and the VRF lottery
Algorand picks block proposers and voting committees with a verifiable random function, or VRF, which works much like a lottery. Accounts with more ALGO online get more chances. An account can expect to propose a block about once every 'total online stake divided by its own online stake' rounds. Because selection is redrawn every round, the job of producing blocks keeps moving between participants.
Rewards for running a node
The Algorand 4.0 upgrade added staking rewards for accounts that bring their ALGO online and take part in consensus. A validator that proposes a block earns a reward paid in real time. That reward started at 10 ALGO per block and falls by 1% every millionth block. The proposer also receives half of the transaction fees in the block. Holders who keep ALGO offline do not earn these payouts. Accounts opt in by paying an extra fee when they register their participation keys. No payout is made if an account's online stake is too large or too small.
Ten billion ALGO, all created at launch
The maximum supply of ALGO is 10 billion, and all of it was created when the network launched. The circulating amount rises as pre-minted tokens unlock and are distributed. The bonus part of staking rewards is paid from the FeeSink, an on-chain account that the Algorand Foundation tops up. Algorand's documentation says the bonus is intentionally not meant to be covered by protocol fees alone.
A plan for quantum computers
In June 2026, the Algorand Foundation published a roadmap aiming for broad quantum resilience by the end of 2027. The plan centers on native accounts that use Falcon, a post-quantum signature scheme, and on post-quantum multisig. Research also continues on a post-quantum version of the VRF used to pick committees. The goal is to protect accounts before future quantum computers could break today's signatures.
Adoption and shrinking block rewards
Algorand competes with many other smart-contract chains for developers, users and real-world projects. The block reward shrinks by 1% every million blocks, so validator payouts fall unless fee income grows. If the FeeSink runs low, bonus payouts are cut to what it can still pay. Tokens released from earlier allocations add to the circulating supply, and ALGO's price has been volatile.

Algorand (ALGO) FAQ
What is Algorand (ALGO)?
Algorand is a layer 1 blockchain that went live in 2019 and uses pure proof-of-stake consensus. ALGO is its native token, used for fees and for taking part in consensus. Its maximum supply is 10 billion ALGO, all created at launch and released into circulation over time.
Who created Algorand?
Algorand was designed by Silvio Micali, an MIT professor and Turing Award-winning cryptographer. The network launched in 2019 and has used his pure proof-of-stake design from the start. The Algorand Foundation supports the protocol and its ecosystem, and published the network's post-quantum security roadmap in June 2026.
How do Algorand staking rewards work?
Accounts that bring ALGO online and help reach consensus can earn rewards when they propose a block. The block reward began at 10 ALGO and drops by 1% every million blocks, and the proposer also receives half of the block's transaction fees. The bonus is paid from the FeeSink, which the Algorand Foundation funds.
What is the price of one ALGO?
One ALGO is valued at about $0.1031 by FMchart's composite, a blend of quotes from several exchanges. Over the past day, about $3.77M of ALGO was traded across the exchanges in FMchart's composite. An exchange's own last trade may be marginally higher or lower than this blended price.
What is Algorand's market cap, and how much of the 10 billion ALGO is circulating?
About 9,074,052,511 ALGO are circulating out of a fixed maximum of 10 billion created at launch. With today's price, Algorand's market cap is roughly $935.8M, which ranks it 78. The circulating figure rises as pre-minted tokens are released, while the 10 billion total was fixed at launch.
How far is ALGO from its record high?
ALGO's record is $3.56, set on Jun 20, 2019 according to market data. How far today's price sits from it, in percentage terms, is shown in the Price Statistics panel, next to the all-time low. ALGO has traded at a small fraction of that record for long periods.
How has ALGO performed month to month?
In FMchart's composite price history (since August 2019), ALGO's best-performing month was November 2024 (+288.8%), and its worst-performing month was March 2020 (-52.5%). The rest appear in the Monthly Returns (USD) table, with yearly totals in the Annual Price (USD) Change table. A handful of big months can dominate such a record.
Is Algorand quantum-resistant?
Not fully. In June 2026, the Algorand Foundation set a goal of broad quantum resilience by the end of 2027. Its roadmap centers on native accounts using Falcon post-quantum signatures and on post-quantum multisig. Research continues on a post-quantum VRF for consensus.
Is Algorand a good investment?
FMchart cannot tell you that, as it does not provide investment advice. Algorand has a fixed supply and staking rewards, but it faces tough competition, block rewards that shrink over time and released tokens adding to supply. ALGO's price has been volatile.
What moves the ALGO price?
ALGO generally follows the wider crypto market. Algorand-specific factors include network activity and fees, the share of ALGO staked online and new partnerships and apps. Token releases and milestones such as the post-quantum roadmap matter too. Changes in staking rewards can also affect demand to hold ALGO.
