Volume Bubbles Chart (1h)

Each 1-hour candle's volume is signed by its direction (up candles count as net buying, down candles as net selling) and drawn as a bubble at the closing price, green for buying and red for selling. Bubble size and colour intensity show how strong that flow is compared with the last 300 candles: the strongest 30% get full bubbles with their USD value, the rest stay as small dots. Unusually large bubbles flag aggressive buying or selling worth a closer look, often near breakouts, reversals or key levels.

Seasonal Chart

Plots one line per calendar year showing the % change since the start of that year, with the current year highlighted against up to four previous years. Lining the years up on the same calendar shows whether the price tends to rise or fall in the same months, helping you spot recurring seasonal patterns. Treat it as context rather than a forecast: past seasonality does not guarantee future moves.

About Basic Attention Token (BAT)

Basic Attention Token (BAT) is the token behind Brave Rewards, an opt-in program in the Brave web browser. People who switch it on can earn BAT for viewing privacy-respecting ads. The token was created on Ethereum, and Brave can also pay it out on Solana. FMchart's figure for BAT blends quotes from several exchanges into one US dollar composite.

Ads matched on the device

Most online advertising relies on tracking people from site to site. Brave takes a different route: ads are matched to interests locally, and Brave says browsing data never leaves the device. Users who opt in receive a share of the ad revenue that Brave describes as greater than or equal to its own share. Websites and creators can verify themselves to receive contributions, and the official BAT site lists over 2 million of them.

A 30-second sale in 2017

Brave sold one billion BAT in a token sale in 2017. TechCrunch reported that the sale raised $35 million in less than 30 seconds, and that only around 130 people managed to buy. Brave is the browser startup of Brendan Eich, a former Mozilla CEO who created JavaScript. Total supply is fixed at 1.5 billion BAT, and the official site says over 99% of it already circulates. No new BAT is created beyond that fixed total.

Getting paid on Solana

To receive BAT, a Rewards user has to connect a payout account, and support varies by region. Since August 2025, people on desktop and Android can link their own self-custody Solana wallet instead of a custodial account. These payouts arrive as Wormhole-bridged BAT, a copy of the token carried over from Ethereum. The option is not available on iPhone because of App Store policies, Brave says.

Roadmap 4.0 and planned buybacks

In July 2026, Brave published BAT Roadmap 4.0. It describes plans for a redesigned Brave Wallet, a stablecoin protocol called BravePay, a Brave Rewards Card and support for payments made by AI agents. Brave said a percentage of its net revenue from these new products will fund BAT buybacks for user rewards, creator contributions and program growth. These are plans rather than finished products. The roadmap also says Brave's notification ads will begin a gradual sunset by the end of 2026.

Reliance on Brave's own choices

Almost all of BAT's use sits inside products run by one company, Brave Software. If Brave changes how Rewards works, retires ad formats or delays the roadmap, demand for the token could change with it. Holding BAT gives no ownership of Brave, its revenue or its browser. Payout options depend on partners and local rules, which differ between countries. Brave announced the buyback plan in July 2026, so it has no track record yet.

Basic Attention (BAT) FAQ

What is the Basic Attention Token used for?

BAT is the reward token of Brave Rewards, the opt-in ad program in the Brave browser. Users earn it for viewing privacy-respecting ads, and creators and websites can receive it as contributions. Brave's July 2026 roadmap also plans new uses, such as a rewards card and a stablecoin payment layer.

How do you earn BAT in the Brave browser?

You turn on Brave Rewards, allow Brave's privacy-respecting ads and connect a payout account where your region supports one. Ads are matched to interests on your own device. Brave says users receive a share of the ad revenue that is greater than or equal to Brave's own share for each ad.

Do you need BAT to use Brave?

No. Brave Rewards is optional, and users have to turn it on themselves before Brave's reward ads and BAT payouts start. Users who join can control which ad formats appear and how often. BAT matters mainly to people who want to earn from ads or send contributions to creators.

Is BAT an Ethereum or a Solana token?

BAT was created as an Ethereum token, and Brave also pays it out on Solana. Since August 2025, desktop and Android users can receive Rewards payouts directly to a self-custody Solana wallet. Those tokens are Wormhole-bridged BAT, a version of the token moved from Ethereum to Solana.

What is BAT's price right now?

FMchart's composite puts BAT at about $0.1483, giving the circulating tokens a value near $221.8M. Daily turnover across the exchanges in FMchart's composite comes to roughly $3.59M. Measured by market capitalization, BAT currently holds rank 165 in the wider crypto market.

How many BAT tokens are there?

Roughly 1,495,724,657 BAT circulate today, and the hard maximum is 1,500,000,000 tokens. Brave sold one billion of them in its 2017 token sale. With nearly the whole supply already in circulation, little remains to be released, so supply changes play a minor role for BAT.

When did BAT reach its highest price?

BAT hit its record price of $1.9 on Nov 27, 2021. The sidebar's Price Statistics section measures how far today's quote sits below that peak and above the all-time low. A past high marks one moment in BAT's history and says nothing about future prices.

How has BAT performed month by month?

In FMchart's composite price history (since April 2021), BAT gained the most in November 2024 (+99.9%) and fell the most in May 2021 (-39.2%). The Monthly Returns (USD) grid lists every month in between. Annual Price (USD) Change and Quarterly Closing Price (USD) give longer views.

What is BAT Roadmap 4.0?

BAT Roadmap 4.0 is Brave's July 2026 plan for the token. It outlines a redesigned Brave Wallet, the BravePay stablecoin protocol, a Brave Rewards Card and support for payments by AI agents. Brave said part of its net revenue from these products will fund BAT buybacks. Most items were still plans when it was published.

Who created the Basic Attention Token?

BAT was created by Brave, the browser startup of Brendan Eich, a former Mozilla CEO who created JavaScript. Brave sold one billion BAT in 2017. TechCrunch reported that the sale raised $35 million in less than 30 seconds from only around 130 buyers.
