Volume Bubbles Chart (1h)

Each 1-hour candle's volume is signed by its direction (up candles count as net buying, down candles as net selling) and drawn as a bubble at the closing price, green for buying and red for selling. Bubble size and colour intensity show how strong that flow is compared with the last 300 candles: the strongest 30% get full bubbles with their USD value, the rest stay as small dots. Unusually large bubbles flag aggressive buying or selling worth a closer look, often near breakouts, reversals or key levels.

Seasonal Chart

Plots one line per calendar year showing the % change since the start of that year, with the current year highlighted against up to four previous years. Lining the years up on the same calendar shows whether the price tends to rise or fall in the same months, helping you spot recurring seasonal patterns. Treat it as context rather than a forecast: past seasonality does not guarantee future moves.

About Compound (COMP)

Compound (COMP) is the governance token of Compound, a lending protocol built for Ethereum and other EVM-compatible networks. Users supply crypto to earn interest or post collateral to borrow. COMP holders vote on changes to the protocol. FMchart quotes COMP through its composite, which blends trading from several exchanges into one US dollar price.

How Compound III lends and borrows

The current design, Compound III, lets users supply crypto assets as collateral to borrow a single base asset. Accounts can also earn interest by supplying that base asset. The first Compound III deployment was on Ethereum, with USDC as the base asset. If collateral loses too much value, a borrower's position can be liquidated. Suppliers of the base asset earn interest, while borrowers pay interest on what they take out. On Ethereum, the main contract for that first market is called cUSDCv3, deployed through a Comet Factory.

Ten million COMP and how voting works

Etherscan shows a maximum total supply of 10,000,000 COMP. Holders can delegate their votes to themselves or another address. An address with at least 25,000 delegated COMP can create a proposal. A vote lasts three days and passes with a majority and at least 400,000 votes in favor. The change then waits in a timelock and can take effect two days later. When a holder's COMP balance changes, the voting rights of their delegate adjust automatically.

The 2024 Humpy dispute

In July 2024, a group called the Golden Boys, linked to a whale known as Humpy, pushed Proposal 289. It sought to move about $24 million of Compound treasury funds into a vault the group ran. After a truce, the automatic treasury deployment was cancelled. Critics alleged that a small group had bought large amounts of COMP to sway the vote, The Block reported. The episode showed how token voting can be used to try to move treasury funds.

Polygon vaults and delegate debates

In March 2025, Compound governance approved four lending vaults on Polygon built on Morpho Blue infrastructure, with nearly 93% of voting weight in favor. Compound DAO and Polygon each committed $1.5 million in tokens. Risk firm Gauntlet proposed the deal and curated the vaults. Critics questioned whether Gauntlet's role created conflicts of interest. Critics also said that relying on Morpho's infrastructure meant Compound was not using its own product. Critics also noted that Gauntlet voted on its own proposal.

When governance itself is the risk

Because COMP controls the treasury and protocol settings, a buyer who gathers enough votes can push through decisions, as the 2024 dispute showed. Low turnout makes that easier. Lending also carries smart contract, oracle and liquidation risk. Large delegates, including service providers such as Gauntlet, can strongly shape outcomes.

Compound (COMP) FAQ

What is Compound (COMP)?

COMP is the governance token of Compound, a lending protocol where users supply crypto to earn interest or borrow against collateral. Holders delegate votes and approve changes through proposals. COMP has a maximum supply of 10 million tokens, and Compound III is the protocol's current lending design.

What is Compound III?

Compound III, also called Comet, is Compound's current lending design. Each market has one base asset that users can borrow by posting collateral, and suppliers of that base asset earn interest. The first market launched on Ethereum with USDC as its base asset.

How does Compound governance work?

COMP holders delegate votes to themselves or another address. Delegates with at least 25,000 COMP can submit proposals. Voting runs for three days and needs a majority plus at least 400,000 votes in favor. Approved changes wait in a timelock and can be executed two days later.

What is COMP's price today?

COMP's composite price on FMchart is roughly $21.49, drawn from several exchanges and shown in US dollars. Trading volume over the last day reached about $3.18M across the exchanges in FMchart's composite, and a single exchange may quote a slightly different figure.

What is the max supply of COMP?

COMP has a maximum supply of 10,000,000 tokens, and about 10,000,000 are counted as circulating. At the composite price, that gives a market cap near $214.9M, placing COMP at rank 166. Since the cap is set in the token contract, no COMP can be created beyond it.

What is the highest price COMP has reached?

COMP's highest price on record is $854.45, reached on May 11, 2021. As a percentage, Price Statistics shows the distance between the current price and that level, and between today and the all-time low. A past peak does not indicate where COMP will trade next.

How has COMP performed month to month?

In FMchart's composite price history (since June 2020), COMP gained the most in January 2021 (+132.6%) and fell the most in September 2020 (-45.1%). Monthly Returns (USD) covers each month, while Annual Price (USD) Change and Quarterly Closing Price (USD) give longer views of the same record.

What happened with Humpy and Compound?

In July 2024, a group linked to the whale Humpy pushed Proposal 289. It aimed to move about $24 million of Compound treasury funds into the group's own vault. After a truce, the automatic treasury deployment was cancelled. Critics alleged the group had bought large amounts of COMP to sway the vote, The Block reported.

What are Compound's Polygon vaults?

In March 2025, Compound governance approved four lending vaults on Polygon, for USDC, WETH, USDT and WPOL, built on Morpho Blue infrastructure. The proposal passed with nearly 93% of voting weight. Gauntlet proposed the deal and curates the vaults, which drew conflict-of-interest criticism, The Block reported.

Is COMP a good investment?

No single verdict fits every reader, and FMchart does not provide investment advice. COMP's role is governance, so its value depends on Compound's usage and on how the DAO manages the treasury. Governance disputes, lending risks and competition can all weigh on the token.
