Volume Bubbles Chart (1h)
Each 1-hour candle's volume is signed by its direction (up candles count as net buying, down candles as net selling) and drawn as a bubble at the closing price, green for buying and red for selling. Bubble size and colour intensity show how strong that flow is compared with the last 300 candles: the strongest 30% get full bubbles with their USD value, the rest stay as small dots. Unusually large bubbles flag aggressive buying or selling worth a closer look, often near breakouts, reversals or key levels.Seasonal Chart
Plots one line per calendar year showing the % change since the start of that year, with the current year highlighted against up to four previous years. Lining the years up on the same calendar shows whether the price tends to rise or fall in the same months, helping you spot recurring seasonal patterns. Treat it as context rather than a forecast: past seasonality does not guarantee future moves.Decred Markets

About Decred (DCR)
Decred (DCR) is a cryptocurrency that combines proof-of-work mining with proof-of-stake voting so that no small group can control the network. Holders lock DCR in tickets to vote on blocks, rule changes and treasury spending. A fixed share of every block reward funds development through an on-chain treasury. On this page, DCR prices come from FMchart's composite, which joins several exchanges' markets into one US dollar figure.
Launch in 2016
Decred's mainnet launched on 8 February 2016. Its code was built on btcsuite, an alternative Bitcoin full-node implementation written in Go by Company 0, the firm behind the project's early work. The launch included a small premine and an airdrop, meant to bootstrap staking and spread coins among potential contributors. Lightning Network support went live in May 2019, and the first release of DCRDEX, a decentralized exchange, followed in January 2021.
Tickets and hybrid consensus
Miners produce blocks, but stakeholders get the final say. For each block, five tickets are chosen at random to vote on whether the previous block is valid. At least three of the five must approve, or the miner loses the reward. Ticket holders also vote on consensus changes, which need 75% of non-abstaining tickets and then activate automatically. A ticket's locked DCR is returned with a reward once it has voted.
The block reward and its split
Decred's supply is limited to about 21 million DCR, with the last block reward expected in 2120. The reward shrinks by a factor of 100/101 every 6,144 blocks, roughly every 21 days. The split has changed twice. It began at 60% for miners, 30% for stakers and 10% for the treasury, then moved to 10%, 80% and 10%. Since August 2023 it has been 1% for miners, 89% for stakers and 10% for the treasury, and mining switched to the BLAKE3 hash function at the same time.
Politeia and the treasury
Proposals for spending treasury funds are discussed and voted on in Politeia, which went live in October 2018. Votes last a week, and records are anchored to the Decred blockchain so tampering can be detected. Since the DCP-0006 vote passed on 9 April 2021, ticket holders also approve treasury payments on-chain. The first payment from this decentralized treasury went out on 28 December 2021.
The August 2026 consensus bug
In August 2026, an attacker exploited a bug present in Decred's consensus code since launch. The project's post-incident report says it created 2,077.97 DCR in six transactions on 16 and 17 August. Developers released an emergency fix, dcrd v2.1.6, on 18 August, without rolling back the chain. Other risks include very low mining rewards since the 2023 split, a small ecosystem and reliance on ticket holders to keep voting.

Decred (DCR) FAQ
What is Decred (DCR)?
Decred is a cryptocurrency that pairs proof-of-work mining with proof-of-stake ticket voting, launched on 8 February 2016. Ticket holders validate blocks, approve rule changes and control treasury spending. Supply is capped at about 21 million DCR, and 10% of each block reward funds the treasury.
How does Decred staking with tickets work?
You lock DCR to buy a ticket, which waits in a pool until it is randomly chosen to vote. Each block calls five tickets to vote on the previous block, and at least three must approve it. After voting, the locked DCR comes back with a reward drawn from the 89% stakers' share of the block reward.
What is the Decred block reward split?
Since August 2023, each block reward goes 1% to proof-of-work miners, 89% to the five voting stakers and 10% to the treasury. It began at 60/30/10, then moved to 10/80/10 before reaching today's split. Across all eras, about 40% of coins will have gone to miners, according to Decred's documentation.
How much is one DCR worth?
One DCR is worth around $14.27 on FMchart's composite index. DCR trading across the exchanges in FMchart's composite totalled about $224.0K over the last 24 hours. Because the composite blends venues, prices on individual exchanges can drift apart from it for short periods.
How many Decred coins are there?
About 17,664,285 DCR exist today, out of a limit of roughly 21,000,000. New coins arrive with every block, but the reward shrinks every 6,144 blocks. At the composite price, circulating DCR is worth around $252.1M, putting Decred at rank 152.
When did DCR hit its all-time high?
DCR's record price of $247.35 came on Apr 16, 2021, according to market data. The network has changed a great deal since, including the 2023 switch to BLAKE3 mining and an 89% staking share of rewards. How far today's price sits from that record, and from the all-time low, is shown in percent in the Price Statistics panel.
What do Decred's yearly returns show?
Look in the Annual Price (USD) Change table for each calendar year, the Monthly Returns (USD) grid for each month and the Quarterly Closing Price (USD) table for quarter-end levels. All three come from FMchart's composite history and show what happened, without implying what comes next.
What happened in the 2026 Decred consensus bug?
In August 2026, an attacker used a bug present since launch to create 2,077.97 DCR in six transactions on 16 and 17 August. The bug had been reported to the bug bounty program four days earlier. Developers released dcrd v2.1.6 on 18 August as a mandatory fix, and the chain was not rolled back.
What is Politeia?
Politeia is Decred's proposal system, live since October 2018. Anyone can submit a proposal for a small fee, and ticket holders vote for one week. Records are anchored to the Decred blockchain, so censorship can be detected. It is used mainly to decide how treasury funds are spent.
Is DCR a good investment?
Weigh this on your own terms; FMchart does not offer investment advice. Decred has a fixed supply, a self-funding treasury and long-running stakeholder governance. It also has a small ecosystem, very low rewards for miners since 2023 and a consensus bug that was exploited in 2026.
