Volume Bubbles Chart (1h)

Each 1-hour candle's volume is signed by its direction (up candles count as net buying, down candles as net selling) and drawn as a bubble at the closing price, green for buying and red for selling. Bubble size and colour intensity show how strong that flow is compared with the last 300 candles: the strongest 30% get full bubbles with their USD value, the rest stay as small dots. Unusually large bubbles flag aggressive buying or selling worth a closer look, often near breakouts, reversals or key levels.

Seasonal Chart

Plots one line per calendar year showing the % change since the start of that year, with the current year highlighted against up to four previous years. Lining the years up on the same calendar shows whether the price tends to rise or fall in the same months, helping you spot recurring seasonal patterns. Treat it as context rather than a forecast: past seasonality does not guarantee future moves.

Hedera Historical Data

About Hedera (HBAR)

Hedera (HBAR) is a public network that uses hashgraph consensus instead of a traditional blockchain. It is built for fast, low-cost transactions with predictable fees, aimed at payments, tokenization and record keeping. HBAR is the native token, used to pay fees and to stake for network security. A council of large organizations governs the network. Prices for HBAR on this page come from FMchart's composite, which combines several large exchanges in dollar terms.

How hashgraph reaches consensus

In a hashgraph, nodes share information through a gossip protocol, telling each other what they have heard and from whom. This record is called 'gossip about gossip'. From it, each node can work out how the others would vote without sending actual votes, a method known as virtual voting. The result is a fair order of transactions and finality within seconds. Hedera describes this level of security as asynchronous Byzantine fault tolerance, or aBFT.

Fees set in dollars

Hedera sets its fees in US dollars and collects them in HBAR at the current exchange rate. A basic HBAR transfer costs about $0.0001, and posting a message to the Hedera Consensus Service costs about $0.0008. Because fees track the dollar, businesses can estimate their costs even when HBAR's price changes. Smart contract calls cost more, because they are priced by the computing work they use. The network also runs a token service and an Ethereum-compatible smart contract service.

The Hedera Council and Hiero

Hedera is governed by the Hedera Council, a group of organizations from many industries. Members such as Google, IBM, Boeing and Ubisoft have taken part, and each has an equal vote on the direction of the software. Members run network nodes and can serve up to two consecutive three-year terms. Changes are proposed openly through Hiero Improvement Proposals before the Council reviews them. Hedera's codebase is maintained as an open-source project called Hiero, managed by the Linux Foundation Decentralized Trust.

A fixed 50 billion HBAR

Hedera launched with a total supply of 50 billion HBAR, and that total cannot change without the unanimous consent of the Hedera Council. Most of it has already been released. The rest sits in Council accounts and is released for purposes such as ecosystem development and network operations. Holders can stake HBAR to a node and earn rewards, and staked tokens stay liquid, with no lock-up period. In October 2025, an exchange-traded fund holding HBAR began trading on Nasdaq, adding another way to gain exposure to the token.

Council governance and token demand

Hedera's council model is more centralized than open validator networks, which some users see as a trade-off. Much of its activity comes from enterprise and data-logging use, which does not always translate into demand for HBAR. Further treasury releases add to circulating supply. Fees are tiny by design, so heavy network use does not necessarily mean large fee income. HBAR's price has swung widely in past market cycles, often following the broader crypto market.

Hedera (HBAR) FAQ

What is Hedera (HBAR)?

Hedera is a public distributed ledger that uses hashgraph consensus rather than a blockchain. It offers fast finality and low fees set in US dollars, along with services for tokens, smart contracts and timestamped messages. HBAR is its native token, used for fees and staking, and a council of global organizations governs the network.

What is the difference between hashgraph and blockchain?

A blockchain groups transactions into blocks chained one after another, usually produced by miners or validators. A hashgraph records how nodes gossip information to each other and uses that history to agree on transaction order through virtual voting. Hedera says this gives fair ordering, high throughput and finality within a few seconds.

Who founded Hedera?

Hedera is built on the hashgraph algorithm invented by Leemon Baird, one of its co-founders. The network launched with 50 billion HBAR. Today the network is governed by the Hedera Council, and its code is maintained in the open as the Hiero project under the Linux Foundation Decentralized Trust.

What is HBAR trading at right now?

HBAR is trading around $0.0764 on FMchart's composite, a blended price from several large exchanges. About $14.13M worth of HBAR has traded in the past 24 hours across the exchanges in FMchart's composite. Quotes on a single platform may differ slightly, and the 24-hour range sits beside the price.

What is Hedera's market cap, and how many HBAR exist?

Hedera's market capitalization is about $3.38B, ranking it 32 among cryptocurrencies. Roughly 44,327,157,615 HBAR are circulating, out of a total supply of 50 billion set at launch. The remainder sits in Council-controlled accounts and is released over time for ecosystem and network purposes.

What is HBAR's all-time high?

HBAR's highest recorded price is $0.5692, reached on Sep 15, 2021. The token has seen strong rallies during crypto booms and long periods of decline in between. A past high is history, not a price target. The Price Statistics panel also shows the all-time low and how far today's price is from each.

How has HBAR performed over the months and years?

In FMchart's composite price history (since October 2022), HBAR's best month is November 2024 (+268.2%) and its worst is February 2025 (-30.4%). The Monthly Returns (USD) table shows every month, and the Annual Price (USD) Change table gives the yearly breakdown. Earlier results do not predict later ones.

Is there an HBAR ETF?

Yes. The Canary HBAR ETF, which holds HBAR directly, began trading on Nasdaq under the ticker HBR on 28 October 2025. It lets people with US brokerage accounts gain exposure to HBAR's price without holding the token themselves. Like any fund, it charges fees and may not track the token perfectly.

Is Hedera a good investment?

FMchart does not provide investment advice. Hedera offers fast, low-cost transactions and backing from a large council of organizations. Its governance is also more centralized than many networks, treasury releases add supply and enterprise use does not always lift HBAR demand. Its price has historically been volatile.

What affects the HBAR price?

HBAR generally follows the broader crypto market. Hedera-specific factors include new council members, enterprise partnerships and network activity such as token and consensus service use. Treasury releases, staking participation, ETF flows and rules for tokenization and digital payments can also matter.
