Volume Bubbles Chart (1h)

Each 1-hour candle's volume is signed by its direction (up candles count as net buying, down candles as net selling) and drawn as a bubble at the closing price, green for buying and red for selling. Bubble size and colour intensity show how strong that flow is compared with the last 300 candles: the strongest 30% get full bubbles with their USD value, the rest stay as small dots. Unusually large bubbles flag aggressive buying or selling worth a closer look, often near breakouts, reversals or key levels.

Seasonal Chart

Plots one line per calendar year showing the % change since the start of that year, with the current year highlighted against up to four previous years. Lining the years up on the same calendar shows whether the price tends to rise or fall in the same months, helping you spot recurring seasonal patterns. Treat it as context rather than a forecast: past seasonality does not guarantee future moves.

Internet Computer Historical Data

About Internet Computer (ICP)

Internet Computer is a blockchain designed to run complete applications, including their websites, directly on its network. It is developed mainly by the DFINITY Foundation, whose founder is Dominic Williams. The network opened to the public on May 10, 2021. ICP is its native token, used for governance and to pay for computing. FMchart calculates the ICP price from several large exchanges.

Canisters and the reverse gas model

Programs on this network are called canisters. They run WebAssembly code, store data and can serve web pages. Canisters pay for their own computing, storage and bandwidth using cycles. This is known as the reverse gas model, because end users usually pay nothing to use an app. Cycles are pegged to the XDR currency basket at 1 trillion cycles per XDR, which keeps costs stable for developers.

How ICP is minted and burned

ICP is turned into cycles by burning it through the Cycles Minting Canister. Transaction fees are burned as well. At the same time, new tokens are minted to pay voting rewards and to compensate the independent node providers who run the hardware. At genesis, rewards were set to distribute roughly 10% of total supply a year in annualized terms. There is no fixed maximum supply, so whether supply grows or shrinks depends on the balance between minting and burning.

Governance through the NNS

The network is run by the Network Nervous System (NNS), an on-chain governance system. Holders lock tokens in neurons to vote on proposals, from software upgrades to adding node machines. Neurons earn voting rewards. Locked tokens cannot be sold until the neuron is dissolved, which takes as long as the chosen dissolve delay, currently up to two years. Voting requires a delay of at least two weeks, and longer delays earn a larger voting-power bonus, up to three times at two years.

Caffeine and AI-built apps

DFINITY introduced Caffeine, an AI platform that builds apps from plain-language instructions. A user describes what they want, and an AI agent writes the code and deploys it on the network. It was first demonstrated at a summit in Zurich in June 2025. The team presents this as a major use for its technology. Whether it creates lasting demand for computing on the network, and so for cycles, is still an open question.

Risks and price history

The token began trading in 2021 and later fell very far from its early prices. That history shows how volatile it can be. The network competes with other blockchains and with traditional cloud providers. Its design is different from most chains, so fewer developers may know it. Supply can rise when minting outpaces burning, which may weigh on the price. Network usage, measured in cycles burned, is one figure holders watch.

Internet Computer (ICP) FAQ

What is Internet Computer (ICP)?

Internet Computer is a blockchain that runs full applications, including websites, on its own network. ICP is its native token, used to vote on governance and to create cycles that pay for computing. It launched publicly in May 2021, and the DFINITY Foundation leads its development.

Who created the Internet Computer?

The DFINITY Foundation, founded by Dominic Williams, leads development of the Internet Computer. The network launched publicly on May 10, 2021. It is governed on-chain by the Network Nervous System, where token holders vote.

What are cycles on the Internet Computer?

Cycles are the units canisters use to pay for computing, storage and bandwidth. They are made by burning ICP and are pegged so that 1 trillion cycles equal one XDR. This lets apps cover their own costs so users usually pay nothing.

What is the current ICP price?

ICP is trading near $2.5837 on FMchart's composite price. In the past 24 hours, about $7.19M of ICP changed hands across the exchanges in FMchart's composite. A single exchange may show a slightly different price, because the composite blends several venues into one value.

Does ICP have a maximum supply?

No, ICP has no maximum supply. About 558,156,880 ICP circulate, giving a market cap of about $1.44B and rank 64 by market value. New ICP is minted for voting and node rewards, while ICP burned for cycles and fees removes tokens.

How does ICP staking work?

Holders lock ICP in a neuron through the Network Nervous System. Neurons vote on proposals and earn voting rewards. Locked ICP cannot be sold until the neuron dissolves, which takes as long as the chosen dissolve delay, up to two years. Voting needs a delay of at least two weeks.

What is Caffeine on ICP?

Caffeine is an AI platform from DFINITY that builds apps from plain-language descriptions. It was first demonstrated in June 2025. The apps it creates are deployed on the Internet Computer, where they run as canisters paid for with cycles. Users do not need to write the code themselves.

What was ICP's all-time high?

ICP set its all-time high of $700.65 on May 10, 2021. The token fell steeply in the years after its 2021 launch and has traded far below that peak since. A record high shows the past, not a likely future level. The Price Statistics panel gives the From ATH figure.

How has ICP performed year by year?

In FMchart's composite price history (since May 2021), ICP's best month is December 2023 (+191.3%), while its worst is May 2021 (-73.1%). The token finished the year higher in 1 of 4 full calendar years. The Annual Price (USD) Change table covers each year. Past results do not show what will happen next.

Is ICP inflationary?

It can be. New ICP is minted for voting rewards and node provider pay, which adds supply. Burning ICP for cycles and fees removes supply. The net effect depends on how much computing the network uses compared with the rewards it pays.
