Volume Bubbles Chart (1h)

Each 1-hour candle's volume is signed by its direction (up candles count as net buying, down candles as net selling) and drawn as a bubble at the closing price, green for buying and red for selling. Bubble size and colour intensity show how strong that flow is compared with the last 300 candles: the strongest 30% get full bubbles with their USD value, the rest stay as small dots. Unusually large bubbles flag aggressive buying or selling worth a closer look, often near breakouts, reversals or key levels.

Seasonal Chart

Plots one line per calendar year showing the % change since the start of that year, with the current year highlighted against up to four previous years. Lining the years up on the same calendar shows whether the price tends to rise or fall in the same months, helping you spot recurring seasonal patterns. Treat it as context rather than a forecast: past seasonality does not guarantee future moves.

Lido DAO Historical Data

About Lido DAO (LDO)

Lido DAO (LDO) is the governance token of Lido, a liquid staking protocol. Lido lets people stake ether and receive stETH, a token that tracks their staked balance and can still be traded or used in other apps. LDO holders decide how the protocol is run, but LDO itself does not earn staking rewards. FMchart's composite index, which blends LDO trades from several exchanges into a dollar price, supplies the chart and tables on this page.

How liquid staking works

Staking ether normally locks it up while validators secure Ethereum. With Lido, users deposit ETH and receive stETH one-for-one. stETH balances grow daily as rewards arrive, a design called rebasing. A wrapped version, wstETH, keeps a fixed balance and rises in value instead, which suits apps that cannot handle rebasing. Lido takes a 10% fee on staking rewards and splits it between node operators and the DAO treasury.

One billion LDO at launch

One billion LDO were minted when the DAO launched. Lido's January 2021 introduction gave 36.32% to the DAO treasury and 22.18% to investors. Initial developers received 20%, founders and future employees 15%, and validators and signature holders 6.5%. The investor, developer, founder and validator allocations were locked for a year and then vested over the following year, while the 36.32% sat in the DAO treasury. Holders vote on fees, node operators, incentives and treasury spending.

Dual Governance: a veto for stakers

Since 4 July 2025, Lido has run Dual Governance on Ethereum mainnet. It lets stETH holders push back against LDO votes they dislike. If holders of 1% of stETH lock tokens in a special escrow, a Veto Signalling phase delays proposals by 5 to 45 days. If 10% join, a Rage Quit begins, which blocks governance actions until the escrowed stakers can exit. The goal is to stop LDO holders from acting against stakers.

Buying back LDO in 2026

CoinDesk reported in March 2026 that LDO had fallen more than 95% from its peak. That month, a proposal sought up to 10,000 stETH, then about $20 million, to buy LDO in batches, each needing its own Easy Track motion. Lido's August 2026 update said 2,320 stETH had been spent, returning 14.8 million LDO to the treasury. An automated buyback called NEST launched in August 2026, but the same update said it had not yet been triggered.

Risks for LDO holders

LDO's value rests on governance rights and the DAO treasury rather than a direct share of fees. The treasury holds a lot of ether. The August 2026 update said the treasury, excluding its LDO holdings, fell 44% in the first half of 2026, from $157.5 million to $88.3 million. It had recovered to $121.3 million by late August. Competition from other staking providers and smart-contract risk are further factors.

Lido DAO (LDO) FAQ

What is Lido DAO (LDO)?

LDO is the governance token of Lido, the liquid staking protocol behind stETH. Holders vote on fees, node operators, incentives and treasury spending. LDO does not earn staking rewards itself; those go to stETH holders after Lido's 10% fee, which is shared by node operators and the DAO treasury.

What is the difference between stETH and wstETH?

stETH is minted one-for-one when you stake ETH through Lido, and its balance grows each day as rewards arrive. wstETH wraps stETH into a token with a fixed balance whose value rises instead. Both represent the same staked ether, but wstETH is easier for apps that cannot handle changing balances.

What is Lido Dual Governance?

It is a safeguard, live since 4 July 2025, that gives stETH holders a way to delay or block LDO votes. Locking 1% of stETH in an escrow delays proposals by 5 to 45 days. At 10%, a Rage Quit freezes governance until those stakers have withdrawn their ether.

Where is LDO trading now?

LDO last traded close to $0.3636 in FMchart's composite. During the past day, about $2.18M worth moved across the exchanges in FMchart's composite. In 2026 the DAO also buys LDO itself, in batches that each need a separate Easy Track motion with a three-day objection period.

How much LDO is in circulation?

About 829,567,764 LDO circulate, out of 1,000,000,000 minted when the DAO launched. Buybacks move LDO back into the DAO treasury, and Lido's August 2026 update counted 14.8 million returned that way. At the composite price, circulating LDO is worth around $301.6M, ranking it 139.

How far is LDO from its all-time high?

Market data dates LDO's peak of $7.3 to Aug 20, 2021. CoinDesk reported that by March 2026 the token had fallen more than 95% from its peak. The Price Statistics panel shows today's distance from both that peak and the all-time low, in percent.

What does LDO's monthly track record look like?

In FMchart's composite price history (since November 2022), LDO gained the most in January 2023 (+131.3%) and shed the most in February 2025 (-44.8%). The full set is in the Monthly Returns (USD) grid. Lido's fee revenue comes from staking rewards on ETH, so ETH-related activity is relevant to the protocol.

Does Lido buy back LDO?

Yes. Under a program proposed in March 2026, the DAO can spend up to 10,000 stETH on LDO in batches. By its August 2026 update, Lido had used 2,320 stETH to return 14.8 million LDO to the treasury. A separate automated buyback, NEST, launched in August but had not yet been triggered.

Is LDO a good investment?

This is your call to make, as FMchart does not provide investment advice. LDO governs the protocol behind stETH and now funds buybacks. On the other hand, it carries no direct claim on fees, stETH holders can veto governance, and CoinDesk reported in March 2026 that LDO was more than 95% below its peak.

What moves the LDO price?

Ether's price may matter, since Lido's fees come from ETH staking rewards. Buyback activity, Lido's share of staking and governance news are other factors. Lido's August 2026 update also said that EIP-8363, a proposal to reduce ETH issuance, could materially affect the protocol.
