Volume Bubbles Chart (1h)

Each 1-hour candle's volume is signed by its direction (up candles count as net buying, down candles as net selling) and drawn as a bubble at the closing price, green for buying and red for selling. Bubble size and colour intensity show how strong that flow is compared with the last 300 candles: the strongest 30% get full bubbles with their USD value, the rest stay as small dots. Unusually large bubbles flag aggressive buying or selling worth a closer look, often near breakouts, reversals or key levels.

Seasonal Chart

Plots one line per calendar year showing the % change since the start of that year, with the current year highlighted against up to four previous years. Lining the years up on the same calendar shows whether the price tends to rise or fall in the same months, helping you spot recurring seasonal patterns. Treat it as context rather than a forecast: past seasonality does not guarantee future moves.

About Sonic (S)

Sonic (S) is a layer-1 blockchain that replaced Fantom. Its mainnet launched on December 18, 2024, and FTM holders could upgrade to S on a 1:1 basis. The network runs Ethereum-compatible smart contracts, so apps written in Solidity or Vyper can be deployed there. Quotes for S on this page come from FMchart's composite, which merges several exchanges into a single dollar price.

The switch from FTM

For the first 90 days after launch, holders could swap freely in both directions between FTM and S. From March 18, 2025, the swap became one-way, from FTM to S only. At launch, Sonic Labs advertised up to 10,000 transactions per second with sub-second finality. Its developer, Sonic Labs, describes the chain as an EVM layer 1 aimed mainly at DeFi.

Fee sharing and the Gateway bridge

Sonic's Fee Monetization program lets developers earn part of the network fees that their apps generate. At launch, Sonic Labs put that share at up to 90%. The Sonic Gateway is a bridge to Ethereum. Deposits take around 10 to 15 minutes to finalize on Ethereum and about a second on Sonic. It includes a fail-safe intended to let users recover bridged assets if the Gateway stops working.

Airdrop seasons and unclaimed tokens

The token documentation set aside 190.5 million S for an airdrop paid in phases. Users who withdrew early gave up part of their share, and that part was burned. Separately, 47,625,000 S are issued each year for six years to fund growth, starting with the first issuance on June 18, 2025. In April 2026, Sonic Labs said about 32,690,000 S from the first two airdrop seasons were still unclaimed. Sonic Labs said those tokens would be burned on October 15, 2026, if nobody claimed them.

Validators and staking rewards

Holders can stake S with validators, who process transactions and secure the chain. The docs give a target reward rate of 3.5% when half of the network is staked. Taking a stake back out involves a 14-day waiting period. For the first four years, about 70 million tokens a year of remaining Opera block rewards are reallocated to pay validators. After that, the docs say new S will be issued at 1.75% per year.

Turnover at the top and falling activity

Sonic Labs changed leaders twice within months. Its CEO left in February 2026. Then, on June 20, 2026, Andre Cronje, Michael Kong and David Richardson stepped down from the board, The Block reported. Matt Visser became CEO. The same report put the value locked in Sonic apps at about $26 million, down from more than $1.1 billion in May 2025. Weak on-chain activity, rival EVM chains and bridge risk can all affect S.

Sonic (S) FAQ

What is Sonic (S) in crypto?

Sonic is an EVM-compatible layer-1 blockchain, and S is its native token, used for fees and staking. It replaced the Fantom network when its mainnet launched on December 18, 2024. Developers can earn part of the fees their apps generate, and a bridge called the Sonic Gateway links the chain to Ethereum.

Is Sonic the same as Fantom?

Sonic is Fantom's successor rather than a simple rename. It launched as a new network on December 18, 2024, and FTM holders were offered a 1:1 upgrade to S. Remaining block rewards from the older Fantom Opera chain were moved over to pay Sonic validators during the first four years.

Can I still convert FTM to S?

Yes, but only in one direction. During the first 90 days after Sonic's mainnet launch, FTM and S could be swapped both ways at a 1:1 rate. From March 18, 2025, the upgrade became one-way, so FTM can be turned into S but S can no longer be swapped back.

How much is Sonic worth today?

Sonic's composite price on FMchart is about $0.0462, blended from several exchanges into US dollars. Over the last day, $1.91M of S traded across the exchanges in FMchart's composite. Today's percentage change and the 24h Range sit next to the price in the page header.

How many S tokens are in circulation?

Roughly 3,885,497,663 S circulate, worth about $179.6M in total. Sonic has no fixed maximum: new tokens fund ecosystem growth and, later, validator rewards, while unused or forfeited tokens can be burned. Sonic Labs has also scheduled about 32,690,000 unclaimed airdrop tokens for burning after October 15, 2026.

What was the highest price for Sonic?

S reached $1.029 on Jan 4, 2025, its highest price according to market data. Price Statistics compares the current quote with that peak and with the all-time low. In June 2026, The Block reported S trading about 97% below its January 2025 high. Past peaks describe history, not future prices.

How has S performed since it launched?

In FMchart's composite price history (since May 2025), September 2026 (+46.9%) ranks as the best month for S and October 2025 (-45.5%) as the worst. Every month sits in the Monthly Returns (USD) grid, and Annual Price (USD) Change totals each year. Because S launched in December 2024, the record is still short.

What happens to unclaimed Sonic airdrop tokens?

In April 2026, Sonic Labs said about 32,690,000 S from the first two airdrop seasons were still unclaimed. Claims became penalty-free in April and May 2026. Any tokens still unclaimed after the October 15, 2026 deadline are scheduled to be burned, which would remove them from supply.

Can you stake Sonic (S)?

Yes. Holders can delegate S to validators and earn a share of rewards. Sonic's documentation gives a target reward rate of 3.5% when 50% of the network is staked, and validators also collect fees. Withdrawing a stake involves a 14-day waiting period, so staked tokens cannot be sold instantly.

Who leads Sonic Labs now?

Matt Visser became CEO of Sonic Labs in June 2026, with Kosta Kourkoumelis as COO, according to The Block. At the same time, Andre Cronje, Michael Kong and David Richardson stepped down from the board. The company said it would set up a risk and compliance committee.
