Volume Bubbles Chart (1h)

Each 1-hour candle's volume is signed by its direction (up candles count as net buying, down candles as net selling) and drawn as a bubble at the closing price, green for buying and red for selling. Bubble size and colour intensity show how strong that flow is compared with the last 300 candles: the strongest 30% get full bubbles with their USD value, the rest stay as small dots. Unusually large bubbles flag aggressive buying or selling worth a closer look, often near breakouts, reversals or key levels.

Seasonal Chart

Plots one line per calendar year showing the % change since the start of that year, with the current year highlighted against up to four previous years. Lining the years up on the same calendar shows whether the price tends to rise or fall in the same months, helping you spot recurring seasonal patterns. Treat it as context rather than a forecast: past seasonality does not guarantee future moves.

About Sei (SEI)

Sei (SEI) is a layer-1 blockchain designed for trading and other apps that need quick confirmation. It runs Ethereum-compatible smart contracts and executes transactions in parallel, with finality in under a second. Users spend SEI on gas, validators and delegators stake it, and holders vote with it on proposals. Every price figure on this page, from the chart to the return tables, comes from FMchart's composite of SEI markets on several exchanges, expressed in dollars.

Launch in August 2023

Sei's mainnet and token went live on 15 August 2023, CoinDesk reported, after a test network that created more than 7.5 million wallets. The chain began in the Cosmos ecosystem, which links blockchains through a messaging standard called IBC. It later added an Ethereum Virtual Machine, so developers could deploy Solidity contracts and users could connect familiar Ethereum wallets.

Ten billion SEI and the ecosystem reserve

Sei's 2023 tokenomics post caps supply at 10 billion SEI. Just over half, 51%, is assigned to the community, mostly through a 48% ecosystem reserve that funds staking rewards and grants. A further 9% sits in the foundation treasury. There was no public coin sale at launch. The ecosystem reserve and other allocations are released over time, so the amount of SEI on the market can grow.

SIP-3: dropping the Cosmos side

Governance accepted SIP-3, a plan to make Sei an EVM-only chain, and the rollout has been phased. A governance vote blocked new CosmWasm contract deployments, although existing contracts can still run. Inbound IBC transfers were switched off, and outbound IBC was disabled on 31 July 2026. Native SEI transfers, staking, delegation and the EVM keep working. Users had to link their Cosmos-style and Ethereum-style addresses before the upgrade, because the old sei1 interfaces stop working afterwards.

Giga: the next performance target

Giga is Sei's plan for a much faster chain. The second Giga white paper, published on 1 July 2026, targets more than 200,000 transactions per second and finality under 250 milliseconds. The team says this roadmap may change. The first Giga components to reach mainnet were Ares, a new execution engine, and the first phase of Eidos, a new storage layer, both with the Sei 6.6 release in August 2026. Later Eidos phases and a new consensus design, Autobahn, are planned for later releases.

Risks during the transition

Removing Cosmos features can strand assets for users who never linked their addresses, so the migration carries real operational risk. Giga's speed targets are goals set in a white paper, not results measured on mainnet. Sei also competes with many fast EVM chains for the same developers and liquidity. Releases from the ecosystem reserve add SEI to circulation as well. Governance proposals can also change fees, staking settings or the migration timetable, and holders who do not follow those votes may be caught out by them.

Sei (SEI) FAQ

What is Sei (SEI)?

Sei is a layer-1 blockchain that runs Ethereum-compatible smart contracts with parallel execution and sub-second finality. SEI is its native token, used for gas, staking and governance. Mainnet launched in August 2023, and under SIP-3 the chain has been phasing out its Cosmos features, with outbound IBC disabled on 31 July 2026.

Is Sei becoming EVM-only?

Yes, that is the goal of SIP-3, and several steps have been taken. New CosmWasm deployments are blocked, inbound IBC is off and outbound IBC was disabled on 31 July 2026. Existing CosmWasm contracts, native SEI transfers, staking and the EVM still work, according to Sei's migration guide.

What is Sei Giga?

Giga is Sei's upgrade plan for higher throughput. The July 2026 white paper targets more than 200,000 transactions per second and finality under 250 milliseconds, and the team notes the roadmap may change. Ares, a new execution engine, and the first phase of Eidos, a new storage layer, reached mainnet with Sei 6.6 in August 2026, while the consensus changes are still planned.

What is SEI trading at today?

On FMchart's composite index, SEI is priced around $0.0516. Over the last 24 hours, about $14.12M of SEI traded across the exchanges in FMchart's composite. Since the quote mixes several venues, it may sit a fraction away from what one exchange shows at the same moment.

What is the maximum supply of SEI?

Sei's tokenomics cap the supply at 10 billion SEI, and about 6,733,333,333 are in circulation. The rest sits mainly in the ecosystem reserve and other allocations released over time. Valued at the composite price, the circulating tokens give a market cap of roughly $347.2M, ranking SEI at 130.

What is SEI's all-time high?

Market data records SEI's highest price as $1.14, reached on Mar 15, 2024. More SEI has been released from the ecosystem reserve and other allocations since the network launched. The Price Statistics panel expresses today's distance from that high, and from the all-time low, as percentages.

How has SEI done since FMchart started tracking it?

In FMchart's composite price history (since August 2023), SEI gained the most during December 2023 (+134.0%) and lost the most during December 2024 (-40.5%). Quarter-end levels sit in the Quarterly Closing Price (USD) table, and every month appears in the Monthly Returns (USD) grid. These tables record past performance only.

What happened to IBC on Sei?

IBC, the Cosmos standard for moving tokens between chains, has been switched off on Sei as part of SIP-3. Inbound transfers were disabled first, and governance proposal 121 disabled outbound transfers on 31 July 2026. IBC assets can no longer be bridged to or from Sei. Native SEI, staking and the EVM are not affected.

Is Sei a good investment?

That depends on your own view of the risks, and FMchart does not give investment advice. Sei's own materials describe fast EVM execution and an ambitious Giga plan whose targets are not yet proven on mainnet. It also faces a complex migration away from Cosmos, competition among fast chains and continuing releases from the ecosystem reserve.

What drives the SEI price?

Possible drivers include progress on Giga and how smoothly the SIP-3 migration goes. Activity in Sei's trading and DeFi apps and the release of tokens from the ecosystem reserve can matter too. Governance decisions on fees and staking, and conditions across the wider crypto market, may also play a part.
