Volume Bubbles Chart (1h)

Each 1-hour candle's volume is signed by its direction (up candles count as net buying, down candles as net selling) and drawn as a bubble at the closing price, green for buying and red for selling. Bubble size and colour intensity show how strong that flow is compared with the last 300 candles: the strongest 30% get full bubbles with their USD value, the rest stay as small dots. Unusually large bubbles flag aggressive buying or selling worth a closer look, often near breakouts, reversals or key levels.

Seasonal Chart

Plots one line per calendar year showing the % change since the start of that year, with the current year highlighted against up to four previous years. Lining the years up on the same calendar shows whether the price tends to rise or fall in the same months, helping you spot recurring seasonal patterns. Treat it as context rather than a forecast: past seasonality does not guarantee future moves.

About Sui (SUI)

Sui (SUI) is a layer 1 blockchain built for fast, low-cost apps such as games, payments and trading. Its mainnet launched in May 2023. Sui was developed by Mysten Labs, one of two companies that grew out of Meta's Diem blockchain project and its Move language. SUI is the native token and is used for gas fees, staking and governance. FMchart quotes SUI in US dollars using a composite of prices from several big trading venues.

Objects instead of accounts

Most blockchains track balances inside accounts. Sui instead stores data as objects, each with an owner, a unique ID and a version number that changes whenever the object is updated. Transactions that touch only one owner's objects cannot clash with anyone else's, so they can be finalized on a faster path. Shared objects, such as a trading pool used by many people, must be ordered against other users' actions. This split allows unrelated transactions to run in parallel.

Move and fast consensus

Smart contracts on Sui are written in Move, a language first created for Diem. Move treats digital assets as resources that cannot be copied or accidentally destroyed, which helps prevent some common bugs. Transactions are ordered by a consensus protocol called Mysticeti. Since Sui node v1.60, released in late 2025, its second version handles transaction processing by default. Users can also bundle many steps into one programmable transaction, such as swapping and then depositing in a single action.

A 10 billion cap and a storage fund

SUI has a fixed maximum of 10 billion tokens, and a large part is still being released over time under the original distribution schedule. Holders can delegate SUI to validators and earn a share of rewards each epoch. Sui also charges for storing data on chain. Those payments go into a storage fund, which compensates future validators for keeping old data and holds SUI out of active circulation.

The Cetus exploit in 2025

On 22 May 2025, an attacker drained about $223 million from Cetus, a large decentralized exchange on Sui. Validators stopped roughly $162 million of the stolen funds from moving. Days later, an on-chain vote in which validators holding about 90% of stake said yes approved a protocol upgrade. It moved those funds to a trust wallet for repaying users. Supporters saw user protection, while critics said it showed validators can step into individual accounts.

Young network, open questions

Sui is a young network competing with Solana, Ethereum layer 2s and other fast chains. Scheduled token releases add supply over time. The Cetus response showed that validators can coordinate to freeze funds, which some users see as a trade-off against censorship resistance. Like other newer layer 1 tokens, SUI has had large price swings over its short trading history. Apps built on Sui also carry their own smart contract risks, as the Cetus exploit showed.

Sui (SUI) FAQ

What is Sui (SUI)?

Sui is a layer 1 blockchain designed for fast, cheap transactions and consumer apps. It stores data as objects, runs smart contracts written in the Move language and launched its mainnet in May 2023. SUI, the native token, pays gas fees, is staked with validators and is used in governance votes.

How is Sui different from other blockchains?

Sui's main difference is its object-based data model. Transactions involving only one owner's objects can be finalized on a faster path, while shared objects must be ordered against other users' actions by Sui's Mysticeti consensus. Together with the Move language and programmable transactions that bundle many steps, this design aims for low latency and high throughput.

Who created Sui?

Sui was created by Mysten Labs and is one of two networks that grew out of Meta's Diem project and its Move programming language, after Aptos. Sui's mainnet launched on 3 May 2023, and the Sui Foundation supports the wider ecosystem with grants and developer programs.

What is the price of SUI today?

SUI is currently trading near $0.9081 on FMchart's composite feed. Over the last 24 hours, around $75.33M worth of SUI traded across the exchanges in FMchart's composite. Because the composite blends several large exchanges, a single venue might show a slightly different price. The daily range appears next to the headline figure.

What is Sui's market cap and max supply?

Sui has a market capitalization of about $3.74B, placing it at rank 30. Roughly 4,118,270,448 SUI are circulating, out of a fixed maximum of 10 billion tokens. The rest is released gradually under Sui's distribution schedule, so the circulating amount keeps rising over time.

What is SUI's all-time high?

SUI hit its all-time high of $5.35 on Jan 4, 2025. Since the token only began trading in 2023, its history is short and marked by fast rallies and steep pullbacks. The Price Statistics panel lists the all-time low too, along with the current distance from both records.

How has SUI performed month to month?

In FMchart's composite price history (since May 2023), SUI's best month is September 2024 (+122.9%) and its weakest month is April 2024 (-40.3%). The record is fairly short, so a few big months stand out. Check the Monthly Returns (USD) table for each month and the Annual Price (USD) Change table for full years. Past moves do not predict future ones.

What happened with the Cetus hack on Sui?

In May 2025, an attacker exploited a flaw in Cetus, a major Sui exchange, and took about $223 million. Validators froze around $162 million of it on Sui. An on-chain validator vote then approved an upgrade moving those funds to a trust wallet. Cetus, OtterSec and the Sui Foundation control it, so affected users could be repaid.

Is SUI a good investment?

FMchart does not provide investment advice. Sui uses an object model and the Move language. It is also a young network facing strong competition, ongoing token releases and debate over validator intervention after the Cetus exploit. SUI's price has been highly volatile since it began trading.

What drives the SUI price?

SUI tends to follow the broader crypto market. Network-specific drivers include app and DeFi activity, transaction volumes, partnerships, scheduled token releases, staking levels and security incidents. Exchange listings, product launches from Mysten Labs and changes in crypto regulation can also affect demand for the token.
