Volume Bubbles Chart (1h)

Each 1-hour candle's volume is signed by its direction (up candles count as net buying, down candles as net selling) and drawn as a bubble at the closing price, green for buying and red for selling. Bubble size and colour intensity show how strong that flow is compared with the last 300 candles: the strongest 30% get full bubbles with their USD value, the rest stay as small dots. Unusually large bubbles flag aggressive buying or selling worth a closer look, often near breakouts, reversals or key levels.

Seasonal Chart

Plots one line per calendar year showing the % change since the start of that year, with the current year highlighted against up to four previous years. Lining the years up on the same calendar shows whether the price tends to rise or fall in the same months, helping you spot recurring seasonal patterns. Treat it as context rather than a forecast: past seasonality does not guarantee future moves.

About Sun Token (SUN)

Sun Token (SUN) is the governance token of SUN.io, a decentralized finance platform on the TRON blockchain. SUN.io runs token swaps, stablecoin pools and other services, and directs part of their revenue to buying back and burning SUN. Holders lock SUN to vote and to earn a share of fees. FMchart's composite index, which averages SUN markets on several exchanges in dollar terms, powers the chart and tables on this page.

Born in TRON's 2020 DeFi push

SUN appeared in September 2020, during a wave of interest in decentralized finance. According to the platform's documentation, users first staked TRX in a smart contract to earn the original token, now called SUNOLD. Decrypt reported that TRON founder Justin Sun described the launch as having no venture capital investment, no private sale, no pre-mine and no reserve for the team.

The 2021 redenomination

In May 2021, the token was redenominated at 1,000 new SUN for each old one. Total supply went from 19,900,730 to 19,900,730,000, so the price per token fell by the same factor while each holder's share stayed the same. The same month, the project became a platform combining stablecoin swaps, token mining and self-governance. It acquired the JustSwap exchange in October 2021.

veSUN and the SUN DAO

Governance runs through veSUN, which holders receive by locking SUN for between 26 weeks and four years. veSUN earns half of the weekly fees from stablecoin pools, boosts mining rewards by up to 2.5 times and votes on how rewards are spread across pools. The SUN DAO launched in July 2024. A proposal needs more than 30 million veSUN to be submitted. To pass, it needs more than 90 million yes votes, after a review period, a three-day vote and a short lock before execution.

Revenue-funded burns

The platform uses revenue from several products to buy SUN on the market. Sources include 0.05% of SunSwap V2 trading volume, one-sixth of the fees from SunSwap V3's TRX/USDT 0.05% pool, all protocol revenue from SunPump and half of SunX's net revenue. SunPump is a meme-coin launchpad on TRON. Bought-back tokens wait at a pending-burn address and are destroyed each quarter by sending them to TRON's black-hole address, where no one can spend them. Burned tokens leave the circulating supply for good.

Concentration and platform risk

The token's fortunes are closely tied to TRON and to activity on the platform, so a slowdown in either can shrink both fees and burns. Burn sizes depend on product revenue, including meme-coin launches that can be short-lived. Smart-contract flaws and stablecoins losing their peg inside its pools are further risks. High voting thresholds, such as 90 million yes votes to pass a proposal, mean only large veSUN holdings can carry a vote.

Sun Token (SUN) FAQ

What is Sun Token (SUN)?

SUN is the governance token of SUN.io, a DeFi platform on TRON with token swaps, stablecoin pools and a meme-coin launchpad called SunPump. Holders lock it as veSUN to vote and earn fees, and part of the platform's revenue is used to buy back and burn the token.

Who created SUN?

SUN was launched in September 2020 within the TRON ecosystem and announced by TRON founder Justin Sun. Decrypt reported that he described the launch as having no venture capital, private sale, pre-mine or team reserve. Users first earned the token by staking TRX in a smart contract.

Is SUN deflationary?

Yes, in circulating terms: part of the platform's revenue buys SUN and burns it. SunSwap, SunPump and SunX fund the buybacks, and burned tokens go to an address no one can spend from, so they leave circulating supply. The pace depends on how much revenue those products earn each quarter.

What does SUN cost right now?

SUN costs about $0.0162 in FMchart's composite index. Around $331.8K worth of SUN changed hands in 24 hours across the exchanges in FMchart's composite. Part of that buying comes from the platform itself, which spends product revenue on SUN and burns it each quarter.

How many SUN tokens are there?

Roughly 19,222,181,989 SUN circulate, below the redenominated ceiling of 19,900,730,000. Tokens burned through buybacks sit in TRON's black-hole address and leave circulating supply. At the composite price, the circulating SUN is worth about $311.4M, giving the token rank 137.

What is SUN's all-time high?

The token's highest price was $66.45, set on Sep 10, 2020 in market data. Because of the 1,000-to-1 redenomination in May 2021, sites showing older prices may use different units, so compare like with like. The Price Statistics panel shows the current gap to that high and to the all-time low.

How has SUN done over the years?

Year-by-year results for SUN sit in the Annual Price (USD) Change table, and individual months in the Monthly Returns (USD) grid, both taken from FMchart's composite history. Neither table is a forecast; they only record how the token has moved.

What is veSUN?

veSUN is what you receive by locking SUN for between 26 weeks and four years. It earns half of the weekly stablecoin pool fees, boosts mining rewards by up to 2.5 times and carries votes in the SUN DAO. Passing a DAO proposal takes more than 90 million yes votes.

Is SUN related to TRON and Justin Sun?

Yes. The platform runs on TRON, the blockchain founded by Justin Sun, who announced the token's launch in 2020. The token gives no formal claim on TRON itself, but its fees, burns and usage depend heavily on activity in the TRON ecosystem.

Is SUN a good investment?

That is for you to decide, as FMchart gives no investment advice. SUN has a fixed ceiling and quarterly burns funded by platform revenue. It also depends on a single ecosystem, on revenue from volatile products such as meme-coin launches, and on governance thresholds that require large veSUN holdings.
