Volume Bubbles Chart (1h)

Each 1-hour candle's volume is signed by its direction (up candles count as net buying, down candles as net selling) and drawn as a bubble at the closing price, green for buying and red for selling. Bubble size and colour intensity show how strong that flow is compared with the last 300 candles: the strongest 30% get full bubbles with their USD value, the rest stay as small dots. Unusually large bubbles flag aggressive buying or selling worth a closer look, often near breakouts, reversals or key levels.

Seasonal Chart

Plots one line per calendar year showing the % change since the start of that year, with the current year highlighted against up to four previous years. Lining the years up on the same calendar shows whether the price tends to rise or fall in the same months, helping you spot recurring seasonal patterns. Treat it as context rather than a forecast: past seasonality does not guarantee future moves.

Celestia Historical Data

About Celestia (TIA)

Celestia (TIA) is a blockchain built to publish and store data for other blockchains. It does not try to host apps itself. Instead, rollups and other chains post their transaction data to Celestia so anyone can check it is available. TIA buys that space, and staking it protects the network. FMchart tracks TIA with a composite index that blends trades from several exchanges into one dollar price, used for the chart and tables below.

What data availability means

A rollup bundles many transactions and needs somewhere to publish the raw data so users can verify it later. Celestia calls this job data availability. Its key idea is data availability sampling. Light nodes download small random pieces of each block, and if enough pieces turn up, they can be confident the whole block was published. That lets blocks grow larger while checking them stays cheap. The Matcha upgrade raised the maximum block size from 8 MB to 128 MB.

Lemon Mint and the 2023 airdrop

Celestia's mainnet beta, called Lemon Mint, went live on 31 October 2023, according to The Block. At launch, 60 million TIA, or 6% of the genesis supply, went to an airdrop. Recipients included active users of Ethereum rollups, Cosmos Hub and Osmosis stakers, and developers. The genesis supply was one billion TIA. Large shares were set aside for research and ecosystem work, investors and early contributors, unlocking over several years.

Paying for blobs and issuing new TIA

Rollups pay in TIA, through PayForBlobs transactions, to publish their data. TIA is also staked with validators, who produce blocks, and used to vote on governance proposals. New TIA is issued as staking rewards, so there is no fixed maximum supply. Issuance started at 8% a year. The Lotus upgrade in July 2025 cut it to about 5%, and Matcha in November 2025 cut it to about 2.5%. Under the current schedule, the rate falls 6.7% each year toward a 1.5% floor.

Debates over the token's design

In June 2025, co-founder John Adler floated replacing proof-of-stake with a model he called proof-of-governance. It would have cut issuance from 5% to 0.25%. The Block reported it as a forum discussion. Celestia's Matcha announcement later called lower issuance a step toward proof-of-governance, but the network still runs on proof-of-stake. Formal changes go through Celestia Improvement Proposals and a validator vote, as Lotus and Matcha did. Matcha also raised the minimum validator commission from 5% to 10%.

Competition and unlock pressure

Celestia competes with Ethereum's own blob space and with other data availability networks, so rollups have alternatives. Its fee income depends on how much data rollups choose to post there. Investor allocations finished unlocking in October 2025, while core contributor tokens finish on 30 October 2026 and research and ecosystem tokens continue until late 2027. Matcha shortened the unbonding period for staked TIA from 21 days to about 14 days, which makes staked supply easier to sell.

Celestia (TIA) FAQ

What is Celestia (TIA)?

Celestia is a blockchain that publishes and stores transaction data for rollups and other chains, a job called data availability. TIA pays for that blob space, backs validators through staking and carries governance votes. Its mainnet beta, Lemon Mint, launched on 31 October 2023.

What is data availability sampling?

It is a way for light nodes to check that a block's data was published without downloading all of it. Each node fetches a few random pieces, and if they all turn up, the chance that data is missing becomes tiny. This is what lets Celestia raise block sizes, which reached 128 MB with the Matcha upgrade.

What is TIA's inflation rate?

TIA issuance is about 2.5% a year after the Matcha upgrade in November 2025, down from about 5% after Lotus. Under the current schedule the rate falls 6.7% each year until it reaches a 1.5% floor. The new tokens are paid out as staking rewards to validators and delegators.

How much is one TIA worth?

TIA changes hands at about $0.5249 according to FMchart's composite, which merges quotes from several venues into one number. Daily volume across the exchanges in FMchart's composite sits near $11.01M. For context, the Matcha upgrade in November 2025 cut TIA's yearly issuance from about 5% to about 2.5%.

Is the TIA supply capped?

No. Staking rewards keep issuing TIA at a falling rate, and total supply has grown past the one billion created at genesis. About 986,306,799 TIA circulate freely. Valued at the composite price, those tokens make a market cap near $517.7M, and Celestia ranks 108.

When was TIA at its peak?

Market data shows Celestia peaking at $20.85 on Feb 10, 2024. Investor allocations have since finished unlocking, and issuance has been cut twice, in July and November 2025. The Price Statistics panel tracks today's gap below that peak and above the all-time low.

What have TIA's best and worst months been?

In FMchart's composite price history (since November 2023), November 2023 (+150.7%) was TIA's top month and December 2024 (-44.9%) its weakest. The Monthly Returns (USD) grid covers every month, and Annual Price (USD) Change sums up each calendar year. These figures record past months only and are not a forecast.

How long does it take to unstake TIA?

Unbonding takes about 14 days since the Matcha upgrade, down from 21 days. You stake by delegating TIA to a validator from a compatible wallet, and you earn a share of new issuance minus the validator's commission. Matcha also set the minimum commission at 10%.

What is proof-of-governance on Celestia?

It is a model co-founder John Adler suggested in June 2025 as a replacement for proof-of-stake. It would have cut TIA issuance from 5% to 0.25%. The Block described it as a forum discussion. Celestia's Matcha announcement later called lower issuance a step toward proof-of-governance, but the network still runs on proof-of-stake.

Is Celestia a good investment?

FMchart leaves that judgment to you and offers no investment advice. Celestia has a defined technical role, and its issuance has been cut twice. Against that, it faces rival data networks, the remaining unlocks of contributor and ecosystem tokens, and fee income that depends on rollups choosing to post their data there.
