Volume Bubbles Chart (1h)
Each 1-hour candle's volume is signed by its direction (up candles count as net buying, down candles as net selling) and drawn as a bubble at the closing price, green for buying and red for selling. Bubble size and colour intensity show how strong that flow is compared with the last 300 candles: the strongest 30% get full bubbles with their USD value, the rest stay as small dots. Unusually large bubbles flag aggressive buying or selling worth a closer look, often near breakouts, reversals or key levels.Seasonal Chart
Plots one line per calendar year showing the % change since the start of that year, with the current year highlighted against up to four previous years. Lining the years up on the same calendar shows whether the price tends to rise or fall in the same months, helping you spot recurring seasonal patterns. Treat it as context rather than a forecast: past seasonality does not guarantee future moves.Tezos Markets
Tezos Historical Data
About Tezos (XTZ)
Tezos (XTZ) is a proof-of-stake blockchain for smart contracts that upgrades itself through on-chain votes instead of hard forks. Its native token is called tez, listed as XTZ on exchanges. Tez pays transaction fees, and holders can delegate or stake it with validators, known as bakers. The prices on this page are FMchart composite values, combining XTZ markets on several exchanges into one dollar price.
Self-amendment without forks
Tezos upgrades pass through five automatic periods: proposal, exploration, cooldown, promotion and adoption. Each lasts about 14 days. Bakers vote with weight based on their stake. The exploration and promotion votes need a quorum and a supermajority of more than 80% of yes and no votes. If a proposal passes, the new protocol activates on its own, so the network does not split into two chains.
Bakers, delegators and stakers
Bakers create blocks and need at least 6,000 tez of baking power. Holders who do not run a baker can delegate, which adds weight to a baker without locking funds. They can also stake, which locks tez in their own account for higher rewards. Staked tez can be slashed if the baker misbehaves, and unstaking takes up to four days. Tezos's Spotlight site reported in July 2026 that staking paid about 8.4% a year and delegation about 2.8%.
Adaptive issuance
Tezos's protocol sets no fixed maximum supply: new tez is issued as rewards at a rate that adaptive issuance adjusts within set bounds. Since the Paris upgrade in 2024, that rate has depended on how much of the supply is staked, aiming for roughly half. In July 2026, Spotlight reported that about 29% was staked, up from about 7% two years earlier, and that issuance had fallen below 3% a year for the first time. Because rewards rise when fewer tez are staked and fall when more are, the design nudges holders toward that target.
Tallinn and Ushuaia
Tezos has used this process for many upgrades. Ushuaia, the 21st, activated on 30 June 2026, following Tallinn, the 20th. Ushuaia raised the bandwidth of the data availability layer fifteen-fold to 10 MB per second, giving rollups more room for data. The Ushuaia announcement lists enshrined liquid staking and post-quantum accounts as features still in testing, not yet active on mainnet.
What holders should weigh
Issuance is lower than before, but supply still grows every year. Spotlight's July 2026 figures also showed more than 42% of tez neither staked nor delegated, so those holders are diluted by new issuance. Tezos competes with many smart-contract networks for developers, users and liquidity. Each upgrade also carries technical risk, even though past ones activated without forking the chain.

Tezos (XTZ) FAQ
What is Tezos (XTZ)?
Tezos is a proof-of-stake smart-contract blockchain whose rules are upgraded through on-chain voting rather than hard forks. Its token, tez (XTZ), pays fees and is delegated or staked with bakers. Ushuaia, activated on 30 June 2026, was its 21st protocol upgrade.
Does Tezos have a maximum supply?
No. The protocol sets no fixed cap on total tez, because new tokens are issued as staking rewards. Since 2024, adaptive issuance has tied the rate to the share of tez that is staked, aiming for about half. Tezos's Spotlight site reported in July 2026 that yearly issuance had dropped below 3%.
How does Tezos staking work?
You can delegate tez to a baker without locking it, or stake it, which locks funds in your own account and earns more. In July 2026, Spotlight reported about 8.4% a year for staking and 2.8% for delegation. Staked tez can be slashed if the baker misbehaves, and unstaking takes up to four days.
What is the price of tez right now?
FMchart's composite values one tez at about $0.277. XTZ volume over the last day, counted across the exchanges in FMchart's composite, reached around $455.9K. Since the price blends several markets, an individual exchange may differ slightly from the composite at any given moment.
How many tez are in circulation?
About 1,099,876,420 XTZ circulate, and the number keeps rising because rewards create new tez every day. The protocol sets no fixed maximum, though issuance fell below 3% a year in July 2026. At the composite price, the circulating tez add up to roughly $304.7M, which ranks Tezos 138 among cryptocurrencies.
What was Tezos's highest price?
Market data lists XTZ's all-time high as $9.12, recorded on Oct 3, 2021. Supply has grown through issuance since then, so the same price today would imply a larger market value. The Price Statistics panel shows the current percentage gap from that high and from the all-time low.
Has XTZ had more up years than down years?
In FMchart's composite price history (since September 2019), XTZ finished higher in 4 of 6 full calendar years. Its biggest monthly climb came in November 2024 (+165.8%) and its steepest drop in March 2020 (-41.2%). The Annual Price (USD) Change and Monthly Returns (USD) tables show every period, describing the past rather than the future.
What is a baker on Tezos?
A baker is a Tezos validator that creates blocks, attests to them and votes on protocol upgrades. Bakers need at least 6,000 tez of baking power, made up of their own tez plus tez that others stake or delegate to them. Misbehaving bakers can lose part of the staked funds through slashing.
What is Etherlink?
Etherlink is an EVM-compatible layer 2 built on Tezos, so apps written for Ethereum can run on it. The Ushuaia upgrade raised the bandwidth of the Tezos data availability layer fifteen-fold to 10 MB per second in June 2026, giving rollups more room for data.
Is Tezos a good investment?
Only you can judge that against your goals; FMchart offers no investment advice. Tezos has activated 21 protocol upgrades through on-chain governance without splitting the chain, according to its own announcements, and issuance has fallen. It also has no fixed supply cap, a large share of tez that is neither staked nor delegated, and many competing platforms.
