Funding Rate Perpetual futures funding rates that FMchart collects from exchange APIs (current rates every 5 minutes, settled rates after each funding time). Each contract has its own funding interval set by the exchange (1, 2, 4 or 8 hours), so rates are compared per 8 hours.

Track funding rates across exchanges and coins. Analyze trends, compare rates, and identify market sentiment.

NEXT FUNDING Countdown to the next funding time of one contract on one exchange. Uses the exchange's own next-funding timestamp; Hyperliquid, Lighter, Kraken and dYdX settle every hour by exchange rule, so their next time is the next full hour. When the time passes the page reloads the next timestamp instead of assuming one.

Average Funding Rate Simple average of the current funding rate of every exchange–contract pair in scope, converted to 8 hours (rate × 8 ÷ interval hours). 24h change compares the same pairs with the rate that applied 24 hours ago.

—

OI-Weighted Funding Rate Average weighted by each pair's own open interest (one side, USD, last 20 minutes). Pairs without verified open interest are left out of the weights.

—

Positive Funding Share of pairs whose current funding rate is above zero (longs pay shorts). Zero rates count as neither positive nor negative.

—

Highest Funding Rate Highest current funding rate (per 8 hours) among exchanges FMchart can name, with its coin and exchange.

—

Lowest Funding Rate Lowest current funding rate (per 8 hours) among exchanges FMchart can name, with its coin and exchange.

Funding Rate & BTC Price

Settled funding rates of one exchange (bars, per 8 hours or annualized) with the coin's median mark price across exchanges (line, right axis). Each bar is one funding settlement. Choose the exchange here; it starts from the exchange filter above.

Funding Rate Heatmap

Market-wide scanner: rows are coins (largest open interest first), columns are all exchanges, and it does not follow the coin and exchange filters above. Each cell is that coin's funding rate on that exchange: the current rate, or the average of settled rates over a range. — means the exchange has no such contract or no data; a hatched cell is delayed data.

Funding Rate by Exchange (BTC)

Settled funding rate of each exchange over time (per 8 hours or annualized). Each line uses that exchange's own settlement times; a missing settlement breaks the line instead of being filled in or shown as zero. Every exchange is shown for comparison; the exchange filter above does not apply (click a name to hide it).

Accumulated Funding (BTC)

Sum of the settled funding rates since the start of the range, in % of position value. Positive: a long position paid this much in total, a short received it (before fees). It is not an amount of money, and it does not depend on the 8H / APR setting. Every exchange is shown for comparison; the exchange filter above does not apply.

Highest Funding Rates

Current funding rates ranked per 8 hours, across exchanges FMchart can name. The small label after the exchange is how often that contract settles; 24h change compares with the rate that applied 24 hours ago.

Funding Rate Statistics

Computed over every exchange–contract pair in scope with a current rate (exchanges whose data terms do not allow display are included without being named). Pairs whose data is more than 20 minutes old are excluded and counted separately.

Methodology

The funding rate is the periodic payment between long and short holders of a perpetual contract; positive means longs pay shorts. Each contract settles at its own interval set by the exchange — on the centralized exchanges most contracts settle every 4 or 8 hours and a few every 1 or 2 hours, while Hyperliquid, Lighter, Kraken and dYdX settle every hour — so rates are compared per 8 hours (rate × 8 ÷ interval hours); APR multiplies that by 3 × 365. The current rate is the rate each exchange reports for its next settlement. Average is the simple mean over exchange–contract pairs and Median is their middle value; OI-weighted uses each pair's own open interest (one side, USD). 24h change compares the same pairs with the settled rate that applied 24 hours earlier. Highest and lowest rates use the exchanges named on this page. The countdown uses each exchange's next-funding timestamp; Hyperliquid, Lighter, Kraken and dYdX settle every hour by exchange rule. Charts use settled rates only; accumulated funding adds those settled rates and is a percentage of position value, not an amount paid. Data older than 20 minutes is shown as delayed and left out of the statistics; missing data is shown as —, never as zero.

Data Coverage

Perpetual swaps from Binance, Bybit, Bitget, Gate, Hyperliquid, Lighter, Kraken, KuCoin and dYdX, plus other exchanges FMchart collects and includes in averages and pair counts without naming them. Margin currency: USDT on the centralized exchanges (USD on Kraken), USDC on Hyperliquid and Lighter, USD on dYdX. FMchart tracks roughly the top 150 coins by open interest. Settled funding history starts on 14 Oct 2026 for most exchanges (Kraken and KuCoin later), so longer ranges become available as history builds up; dYdX settled history is not collected yet. Coin-margined contracts, dated futures and options are not included.

Frequently Asked Questions

1What is the funding rate?

The periodic payment between long and short holders of a perpetual contract. A positive rate means longs pay shorts; a negative rate means shorts pay longs.

2Why are funding rates shown per 8 hours?

Each contract settles at its own interval set by the exchange: most contracts on centralized exchanges settle every 4 or 8 hours and a few every 1 or 2 hours, while Hyperliquid, Lighter, Kraken and dYdX settle every hour. Rates are compared per 8 hours (rate × 8 ÷ interval hours); APR multiplies that by 3 × 365.

3What is the difference between Average, Median and OI-weighted?

Average is the simple mean over exchange–contract pairs and Median is their middle value. OI-weighted weights each pair by its own open interest (one side, in USD).

4What does accumulated funding show?

It adds up settled funding rates over the period and is a percentage of position value, not an amount paid. Charts use settled rates only.

5How current is the data?

The current rate is the rate each exchange reports for its next settlement, and the countdown uses each exchange's next-funding time. Data older than 20 minutes is shown as delayed and left out of the statistics; missing data is shown as —, never as zero.

6How much funding history is available?

Settled funding history starts on 14 Oct 2026 for most exchanges (Kraken and KuCoin later), so longer ranges become available as history builds up. dYdX settled history is not collected yet.
