Open Interest Open interest of perpetual futures that FMchart collects every 5 minutes from exchange APIs. Totals cover the exchanges listed under Data Coverage, not the entire market.
Analyze open interest across coins, exchanges and contracts. Track trends, changes and market positioning.

Total Open Interest Sum of open interest in USD (one side, contracts × price) across the exchanges in scope. 24h change compares the same contracts 24 hours earlier.
Perpetual OI Open interest of perpetual swaps. FMchart collects perpetual swaps only, so this equals the total.
Futures OI Open interest of dated (delivery) futures. FMchart does not collect dated futures yet, so no value is shown.
Tracked Contracts Perpetual contracts with a price update in the last 15 minutes across the exchanges FMchart collects (roughly the top 150 coins by open interest).
Tracked Exchanges Exchanges with at least one contract updated in the last 15 minutes. Exchanges whose data terms do not allow display are counted but not named.
Total Open Interest & Price
Open interest history (left axis) and the median mark price of the same coin (right axis; BTC when All Coins is selected). Only contracts with data from the start of the range are included, so newly added contracts do not create false jumps.Loading…
Open Interest by Exchange
Open interest of each exchange over time, stacked. Same fixed set of contracts as the main chart; a short data gap keeps the previous value instead of dropping to zero. Exchanges whose data terms do not allow display are combined into Others.Loading…
Open Interest by Contract Type
Split between perpetual swaps and dated futures. FMchart collects perpetual swaps only, so no split is shown.- Perpetual

- Not collected
Dated futures are not collected yet, so no perpetual/futures percentage is shown.
Open Interest Change
Change of the main chart's open interest from one period to the next (same fixed set of contracts). Green: open interest rose; red: it fell.Loading…
Open Interest by Exchange
Choose a coin in the row below. Each exchange is one row; All Exchanges sums the exchanges listed (exchanges whose data terms do not allow display are combined into Other exchanges). Changes compare the same contracts at both times, in USD. OI/24h Volume uses only contracts whose 24h volume FMchart has verified.| # | Exchanges | |||||||

Methodology
Open interest is the value of outstanding perpetual futures contracts, counted on one side (long = short), the convention used by Binance and CME. Bybit, Gate, Bitget and Hyperliquid publish a figure that adds longs and shorts together; FMchart halves it so exchanges can be compared and added up, so sites showing those raw figures will show about twice FMchart's number for these exchanges. OI in coin units is converted from each exchange's contract size; OI in USD uses the price when it was recorded. Changes over 1, 4 and 24 hours compare the same contracts at both times, so a newly listed contract or newly added exchange is not shown as growth. Rate is an exchange's share of the open interest in the table. OI/24h Volume divides open interest by the exchange's rolling 24-hour perpetual volume, using only contracts whose volume FMchart has verified; it is left blank otherwise.
Data Coverage
Perpetual swaps from Binance, Bybit, Bitget, Gate, Hyperliquid, Lighter, Kraken and dYdX, plus other exchanges FMchart collects and includes in totals without naming them. Margin currency: USDT on the centralized exchanges (USD on Kraken), USDC on Hyperliquid and Lighter, USD on dYdX. KuCoin is listed but its open interest is not used until FMchart can verify how the exchange counts it. FMchart tracks roughly the top 150 coins by open interest and updates every 5 minutes. Open interest history for most exchanges starts on 14 Oct 2026, so longer ranges include fewer contracts — the chart states the share it covers. USDC-margined and coin-margined contracts on centralized exchanges, dated futures and options are not included.
Frequently Asked Questions
1What is open interest?
Open interest is the value of outstanding perpetual futures contracts. FMchart counts it on one side (long = short), the convention used by Binance and CME, and shows it in coin units (from each exchange's contract size) and in USD at the price when it was recorded.
2Why are Bybit, Gate, Bitget and Hyperliquid figures halved?
These exchanges publish a figure that adds longs and shorts together. FMchart halves it so exchanges can be compared and added up; sites showing the raw figures show about twice FMchart's number for these exchanges.
3How are the 1h, 4h and 24h changes calculated?
They compare the same contracts at both times, so a newly listed contract or a newly added exchange is not counted as growth.
4What does OI/24h Volume mean?
It divides open interest by the exchange's rolling 24-hour perpetual volume, using only contracts whose volume FMchart has verified; otherwise the value is left blank. Rate is an exchange's share of the open interest in the table.
5Why is KuCoin open interest not used?
KuCoin is listed, but its open interest is not used until FMchart can verify how the exchange counts it.
6How far back does the open interest history go?
History for most exchanges starts on 14 Oct 2026, so longer ranges include fewer contracts and the chart states the share it covers. Data updates every 5 minutes.
