Volume Bubbles Chart (1h)

Each 1-hour candle's volume is signed by its direction (up candles count as net buying, down candles as net selling) and drawn as a bubble at the closing price, green for buying and red for selling. Bubble size and colour intensity show how strong that flow is compared with the last 300 candles: the strongest 30% get full bubbles with their USD value, the rest stay as small dots. Unusually large bubbles flag aggressive buying or selling worth a closer look, often near breakouts, reversals or key levels.

Seasonal Chart

Plots one line per calendar year showing the % change since the start of that year, with the current year highlighted against up to four previous years. Lining the years up on the same calendar shows whether the price tends to rise or fall in the same months, helping you spot recurring seasonal patterns. Treat it as context rather than a forecast: past seasonality does not guarantee future moves.

About 0x Protocol (ZRX)

0x Protocol (ZRX) is the token of 0x, a project that builds infrastructure for swapping tokens. As of October 2026, its developer documentation centers on the 0x Swap API, which lets developers add token swaps to their own apps. ZRX was created for governance, but its role has faded since 0x replaced its core contracts. The price on this page is FMchart's composite: one US dollar value averaged from several exchanges.

Founded in 2016 for decentralized exchanges

Will Warren and Amir Bandeali co-founded 0x in 2016. Their goal was a standard Ethereum protocol that lets any Ethereum token be traded and lets anyone operate a decentralized exchange. In the original design, operators called relayers hosted order books off-chain and settled trades on-chain. According to CoinDesk, 0x raised $24 million in ether from about 12,000 backers in its 2017 token sale. Relayers could choose to charge fees for their work, but 0x itself did not require users to pay fees to use the protocol.

What ZRX was designed to do

CoinDesk describes two original uses for ZRX. It could pay fees to relayers, and it gave holders a say in the protocol's governance. Holders could also stake ZRX in 0x's staking system. The supply is capped at 1 billion tokens. When market data is available, Price Statistics shows how much of it circulates. CoinDesk called governance the second and most important of those uses.

Settler and the 2024 contract change

In mid-2024, 0x deployed new smart contracts called Settler. The older Exchange Proxy contract was effectively deprecated that year. Today's 0x API executes swaps through Settler, while separate contracts called AllowanceHolder and Permit2 handle token approvals. The current 0x documentation is written for developers who embed swaps in their apps. The docs warn users never to set a token allowance on the Settler contract itself, because that can expose tokens to misuse.

Governance on pause

As of October 2026, the 0x knowledge base describes protocol governance as dormant because of that contract change. It adds that this is unlikely to change in the near future, barring some compelling event, though governance may become active again later. Holders who staked ZRX in the old system are pointed to a community guide for unstaking, which 0x's security team has vetted. Questions about governance and staking are directed to the 0x Discord and the 0x governance forum.

A token apart from the product

0x's API business can grow without that growth reaching ZRX. The token has had no active governance process since the 2024 contract change, and the current developer documentation does not describe a role for it. Demand therefore rests mainly on trading interest and on whether its role changes in future. ZRX also trades alongside the wider crypto market, which can bring sharp price swings. The knowledge base links any return of governance to lessons from Settler, new technology and regulatory clarity.

0x Protocol (ZRX) FAQ

What is 0x Protocol (ZRX)?

ZRX is the token of 0x, a project founded in 2016 that builds token-swap infrastructure, including the 0x Swap API. ZRX was designed to pay relayer fees and to give holders a say in governance. The 0x knowledge base, checked in October 2026, describes protocol governance as dormant since the 2024 contract change.

Who founded 0x?

Will Warren and Amir Bandeali co-founded 0x in 2016. They set out to build a standard protocol on Ethereum that would let any Ethereum token be traded and let anyone run a decentralized exchange. The project held its token sale the following year.

Is ZRX governance still active?

No. As of October 2026, the 0x knowledge base says governance is dormant, because the Exchange Proxy contract was effectively deprecated after 0x deployed its Settler contracts in mid-2024. It calls a change unlikely in the near future, barring some compelling event, but says governance may become active again later.

What is ZRX worth right now?

ZRX is worth about $0.1029 on FMchart's composite, which averages several exchanges in US dollars. Roughly $307.0K in ZRX traded during the last 24 hours across the exchanges in FMchart's composite. Switch the chart above between 15-minute and daily candles to compare moves.

How many ZRX tokens exist?

ZRX has a fixed cap of 1 billion tokens, with around 848,396,563 now in circulation. No new ZRX can be created beyond that cap. At today's price, the circulating amount is worth about $87.29M, and that market value places ZRX at rank 303 among cryptocurrencies.

What is the highest price ZRX has reached?

According to market data, ZRX peaked at $2.5 on Jan 12, 2018. Price Statistics shows that record beside the all-time low and gives the percentage gap from the current composite price. The peak reflects past market conditions and is not a price target. Market data may also cover years before FMchart's own history.

Has ZRX had more up years or down years?

In FMchart's composite price history (since February 2019), ZRX rose in 4 of 6 full calendar years. The yearly breakdown is in Annual Price (USD) Change, while Monthly Returns (USD) and Quarterly Closing Price (USD) show shorter periods. Comparing up and down years gives a rough picture of the record. Past returns do not indicate future results.

What is 0x Settler?

Settler is the set of smart contracts that 0x deployed in mid-2024 to execute swaps. It replaced the older Exchange Proxy, which was effectively deprecated that year. Users never set token allowances on Settler itself; approvals go to the AllowanceHolder or Permit2 contracts that the 0x API names in its responses.

How can I unstake ZRX from the old staking system?

The 0x knowledge base points holders to a community-written guide for unstaking and withdrawing ZRX, which 0x's security team has vetted. It advises caution when interacting with smart contracts. Other questions about ZRX staking go to the general channel of the 0x Discord or the 0x governance forum.

How did the 0x token sale go?

According to CoinDesk, 0x raised $24 million in ether from about 12,000 backers in its 2017 initial coin offering. The total ZRX supply was capped at 1 billion tokens. Current supply figures appear in Price Statistics when market data is available.
